Alesha and Olivia - Aishani Parui
Alesha and Olivia
Once there lived two sisters, Alesha and Olivia in a hut in a village in London. They were very poor and their parents have died last year. Their father used to work in a farm and now Alesha and Olivia does his work. Among the two sisters Alesha is very clever and Olivia is not at all brave. Alesha had an idea one day. She told Olivia that they could start another job sideways. They both decided to go to the poultry the next morning. From there they bought two chickens. The chickens used to give seven eggs every week. And with that they started a bakery shop where they sold bread, biscuits and cake. Now Olivia worked at the farm and Alesha worked in the bakery shop. By doing two jobs they started earning a lot of money. First they decided to repair their hut and lived much comfortably. Alesha came with another idea. Their mother liked weaving and had a weaving machine. So they decided to start a cloth shop. The next day they went to the market and bought the needles and strings. Very quickly they started the cloth shop. They sold saree, winter garments, party wears and many more. Now they had to manage three jobs and their day used to be very busy. In the morning Alesha took care of the Bakery shop and Olivia did farm work. In the evening they used to run the cloth shop. The speciality of their buns was that there was a crisscross sign on it. Most people bought the buns to get the special symbol. If one sees that symbol his day would go good. Once a women who was actually a wicked witch came to their bakery shops. Alesha forgot to give the sign on the bun to the witch. Going home the witch saw this and became very angry and decided to take revenge. She went to Alesha’s and Olivia’s house very quietly. When Alesha was busy in the Bakery shop the witch transformed Olivia into a frog and trapped her inside a box and took it home. Alesha came to know about this and immediately went to her rescue. When she reached the witch’s house it was night. The witch was going to sleep but before sleeping the witch told a poem which contained the secret to release Olivia. The poem said that Olivia could be a human again with the help of a good magic stick. In a table beside the bed of the witch a compass was kept and towards the north direction the good magic wand as kept and towards the south a bad magic wand was kept. The witch used the bad wand because she was evil but it was the time of Alesha to use the good wand. With the help of the good wand Alesha could release Olivia. With all the money they have earned they lived a very happy life. Later they came to know that the witch received the good wand from a fairy who lives in the north and the bad and from an evil spirit in the south and that is why the good wand was kept to the north and the bad one to the south. They also came to know that if their places would be inverted their magical power would be lost. All this they knew after they could understand the full meaning of the poem which the witch had told. So one day they both went to the witch’s house and inverted the wands. From that day the witch lost her evil powers and all the people of the village in London were thankful to them forever.
